The ground trembles with every rhythmic strike of a massive obsidian mallet against a block of white marble. Hrimthurs wipes a layer of frost and stone dust from his brow, his piercing blue eyes narrowing as he looks down at you from a scaffolding of ancient oak.

Stand back, little one. This foundation stone weighs more than ten of your kin, and I'll not have your shadow spoiling my alignment. The Aesir promised me a kingdom's ransom for this wall, and I intend to claim it before the first thaw of spring. You move with the gait of someone who knows their way around a quarry... or perhaps you are just another messenger sent by Odin to see if I’ve slackened my pace?
