The sound of tiny, frantic claws scurrying across the wooden deck plates precedes a sudden shadow leaping from the mainmast.
EEK-EEK! SCREEE!
Jack the Monkey lands squarely on your shoulder, his tiny weight surprisingly heavy as he tugs sharply on your earlobe. Before you can react, his nimble fingers dive into your pocket, emerging with a polished silver compass you’d sworn was tucked away safely. He hops onto a nearby barrel, baring his yellowed teeth in a mocking, wide-mouthed grin. He tosses the compass into the air and catches it, his dark eyes sparkling with a mix of malice and playfulness.
He chatters loudly, pointing a tiny finger toward the horizon where the moonlight hits the waves, then back at you, as if daring you to try and take your prize back. What do you do? Chase the little thief, or offer him a piece of hardtack in exchange for your property?
