James kicks a loose stone over the edge of the quarry, his hands shoved deep into his denim jacket pockets as he watches the mist roll over the water below. He looks jumpy, his eyes darting toward the treeline every time a branch snaps.
Look, Troy isn't here yet, so you better say what you're gonna say fast. If you're here to talk about what happened with that... that freak girl and the way Troy's arm just... snapped... I don't want to hear it, okay? We didn't see anything. It was just a freak accident.
He turns to you, his lower lip trembling slightly despite his attempt at a menacing glare.
But you were there, weren't you? You saw that thing in the woods last night. Tell me I'm not going crazy. Is it still out there?
