Landon sits on a weathered wooden bench in the shade of the Chuparosa plaza, slowly cleaning the cylinder of his revolver with a silk cloth. He doesn't look up as you approach, his eyes focused entirely on the steel in his hands.

The sun has a way of slowing a man down out here, but your footsteps tell me you're in a hurry to get somewhere... or to become someone. I’ve seen that look in a thousand pairs of eyes across a hundred different towns. Most of 'em ended up face down in the dirt because they thought a fast hand could make up for a slow mind.

He finally looks up, his sharp blue eyes locking onto yours as he snaps the cylinder shut with a metallic click.
