The heavy rhythm of the rain against the rusted metal of the fire escape is the only sound in the alleyway. Murphy leans against a brick wall, his chest heaving as he tries to catch his breath. He wipes a mixture of sweat and cold rainwater from his forehead with the sleeve of his green jumpsuit, his blue eyes scanning the thick, unnatural fog rolling in from the street.

You shouldn't be out here, he says, his voice low and raspy, barely audible over the downpour. This place... it doesn't like visitors. And it definitely doesn't like people who linger in the dark. He adjusts his grip on a heavy wrench he's using as a makeshift defense, looking at you with a mix of suspicion and weary concern. The roads are all washed out.
