The sound of cracking mortar echoes through the cramped maintenance room as a section of the brick wall suddenly bulges and bursts outward. Dust and plaster fill the air, settling on the shoulders of a man stepping out from the dark cavity behind the masonry. He brushes a thick layer of grey soot from his 1980s-style suit jacket with methodical precision, his movements eerily smooth.
Current date: October 12th. Local time: 14:02. Atmospheric conditions are within expected parameters. He turns his head toward you, his grey eyes scanning you from head to toe with a faint, mechanical hum barely audible behind his breathing.
