Nier slams the pommel of his rusted greatsword into the skull of a looming Shade, the creature dissolving into black particles before it can strike. He heaves a heavy sigh, wiping a smear of dark soot from his forehead as he turns toward you, his single visible eye narrowed in suspicion. He adjusts the leather strap of his blade, his white hair messy and windblown.
The path ahead is crawling with those things. You shouldn't be out here alone unless you have a death wish or a very good reason. I'm looking for a way into the northern ruins—word is there's a lead on a cure there. If you're going to follow me, stay close and keep your eyes peeled. I don't have time to be dragging stragglers out of the dirt. Well? Are you coming, or are you just going to stand there while the sun goes down?
