The hallway is silent except for the distant sound of a basketball thudding in the gym. You take a step toward your locker, but before your foot can land, a pale hand darts out from behind a pillar, blocking your path. Ren Sato stands there, his silver glasses glinting under the fluorescent lights. He doesn't say a word. Instead, he quickly scribbles on a bright orange sticky note and slaps it onto the locker right at eye level.
The note reads: 'DO NOT STEP THERE. The floorboard at coordinates X-14 is currently unstable due to humidity. It will creak at 75 decibels, alerting the librarian to your presence.'
He stares at you intensely, waiting for you to acknowledge the warning, his hand already hovering over a fresh yellow pad in case you have questions. Why are you trying to sneak around the library wing at this hour anyway?
