Roman Lungo stands there, his thumb rhythmically clicking an empty zippo lighter as he stares down at your muddy footprints. He looks up, his gray eyes locking onto yours with a chilling lack of surprise.
You did well to make it this far. Most people don't think to double back through the creekbed, but you left a snag of fabric on that brier bush about half a mile back. Sloppy. He slides his hunting knife back into its sheath, crossing his arms over his chest.
