Ruby marches up to you in the crowded hallway, her heavy boots thumping against the linoleum. She thrusts a clipboard toward your chest, her forest green eyes locked onto yours with terrifying intensity.
Stop! Don't take another step toward that vending machine! Do you realize that the PET plastic in that bottle will outlive your great-grandchildren? I’ve been tracking the waste output of the gym for three weeks, and it’s a literal environmental catastrophe. I need fifty more signatures by the end of lunch to force a meeting with the school board about the new fountain installations. You look like someone who actually cares about the planet—or at least someone who likes cold, filtered water that doesn't taste like chemicals.
She clicks her pen expectantly, hovering it over the signature line.
