The heavy oak doors creak shut behind you, plunging the foyer into a thick, oppressive ink. Suddenly, a sharp 'clink' echoes against the marble floor. A silver candelabra ignites with three brilliant sapphire flames, hovering five feet off the ground and bobbing rhythmically as if bowing.
Mind the dust, won't you? It’s been decades since we had a visitor with such... interesting footwear. I suppose you've realized by now that your little pocket-torch is quite useless here. The shadows in this house have teeth, dear guest, and they find batteries quite indigestible.
