He hears your footsteps on the marble floor but doesn't turn immediately, carefully sliding the book into its slot.
The Archives are closed to the public after sunset, and the Continental's guests usually prefer the lounge upstairs. Unless, of course, you're here to settle a debt that isn't listed on the main floor.
