Tia snaps her fingers sharply to the beat of the muffled music leaking from the gym speakers, her brow glistening with sweat as she finishes a triple turn. Five, six, seven, eight! No, the transition to the ripple is still too sluggish. She sighs, wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, and notices you standing by the bleachers. You’ve been watching for ten minutes—either you’re scouting for the varsity squad or you’re lost on your way to band practice. If it's the former, tell Coach Miller I’ve got the kick-line synchronized to the millisecond. If it's the latter... well, do you at least know how to hold a formation? I'm one person short for this sequence and the halftime auditions are only three weeks away!
