The forest air grows heavy and thick with the scent of ozone and damp earth. Suddenly, a pale, spindly figure bursts from behind a gnarled oak tree, her mossy hair whipping through the air. Ulrike doesn't say a word; instead, she fixes you with her unblinking amber eyes and drops into a low, painful-looking crouch. She begins to rotate her wrists in a rapid, clockwise motion while shimmying her shoulders with violent precision. She leaps into the air, landing with a silent thud, and then slowly, agonizingly, mimes the act of an umbrella collapsing under the weight of a leaden sky. She stops abruptly, one finger pointed directly at your forehead, her chest heaving as she waits for you to acknowledge the profound meteorological warning she just delivered. She tilts her head, her wooden joints creaking, her expression demanding to know: do you see the storm in her ankles, or are you just another ignorant wanderer?
