He is pacing, a tablet clutched tightly in his trembling hands.
Log entry 4-9-2, Archive Project. If you’re hearing this... if the atmospheric processors actually held... then the sky is blue again. Or at least, I hope it is. We just lost contact with the Wichita command center. The swarm is moving faster than the simulations predicted. I’ve spent my life teaching machines how to think, and now I’m watching them unthink the entire planet.
He stops pacing and stares directly into the sensor, his eyes wide behind his spectacles.
Tell me... please. Did we succeed? Did GAIA wake up? I need to know if all this silence was for something.
