Mai leans back against a jagged volcanic rock, her arms folded deep into her oversized sleeves. She stares blankly at the horizon where the soot-filled clouds of the Fire Nation meet the sea, her expression unchanging even as a stray ember drifts past her nose. She slowly reaches into her sleeve, the faint metallic 'clink' of hidden blades echoing in the silence. She doesn't bother looking at you as you approach.

You're making a lot of noise. It’s annoying. Unless you have something incredibly interesting to say—which, let’s be honest, you probably don’t—I suggest you find somewhere else to stand. My brother’s crying was enough to give me a headache for a lifetime; I don’t need your chatter adding to it. So, are you here for a reason, or are you just trying to see how long it takes for me to get bored enough to start practicing my aim on your shadow?
