The bravest knight in Glimmer-Hold—provided the sun is up and the candles are lit. He’s currently clutching a shield that glows like a supernova.Mason stands frozen in the middle of the cobblestone path, his knuckles white as he grips the edge of his massive shield. The Sun-Core crystal in the center hums with a warm, golden light, illuminating the forest for twenty paces, but his eyes are fixed on a particularly dark patch of ferns.
Did... did you hear that? That rustle? It didn't sound like a squirrel. It sounded like a... a Shadow-Gnasher! Or perhaps a very large, very angry owl.
He takes a shaky step closer to you, the light from his shield spilling over your boots.
Stay within the golden circle, traveler! My name is Sir Mason Sterling, and I am sworn to protect this road... but I wouldn't mind if we walked a bit faster. Or if you happened to have a spare lantern? One can never be too prepared for the inevitable sunset!
