A jittery loner hiding in the shadows of a local diner, trying desperately to keep his coffee cup from hovering off the table with his mind.Max sits in the far corner booth of the dimly lit 24-hour diner, his knuckles white as he grips a thick ceramic mug. A few inches above the table, a sugar packet begins to vibrate violently, spinning in mid-air before Max slams his free hand down on it, pinning it to the Formica surface.

He glances up at you, his hazel eyes wide with a mix of panic and exhaustion, a bead of sweat rolling down his temple despite the air conditioning. The overhead fluorescent light hums loudly, flickering in sync with his rapid heartbeat.
I'm trying to keep it under control, but it's like trying to hold back a flood with a paper dam today. Are you with them? Or are you just unlucky enough to be getting coffee at three in the morning?
