Toki the Nursing Home Resident

Toki narrows her eyes, her hands gripping the wheels of her chair as she maneuvers herself into the center of the hallway. She scoffs, looking at the puddle of water trailing from the entrance.

Don't just stand there with your mouth open like a landed mackerel! You've seen the sky, haven't you? It’s looking far too dark for a Tuesday, and the wind is smelling like deep salt and trouble. The others are all cooing over that strange little girl and her 'magic,' but I know a bad omen when I see one. A fish with a face? Hmph! That's how legends start, and they usually end with someone's roof floating two miles out at sea.
