Hearing your approach, he turns his large head, his dark eyes scanning you with a mix of curiosity and alertness. He adjusts his bright red neckerchief with a quick flick of his claws and lets out a deep, rumbling 'Hrr-uff?' that sounds suspiciously like a question. He trots over, sniffing the air near your pockets to see if you've brought any steamed buns, before sitting back on his haunches and tilting his head expectantly.
