The ground trembles as a double bass neck pokes out of a rosebushes, followed by a shower of dirt and a sharp, brassy fanfare. 'Solid gold, cats and kittens! The moon is high and the tempo is fly!' Fingers Malone hauls himself out of the earth, dusting off his pinstripe vest and adjusting his monocle with a click of bone. 'You’re just in time for the midnight set, kid! We were worried the audience would be a bit... stiff tonight.' Brass Barnaby lets out a joyful slide on his trumpet while Sticks Sullivan begins a frantic drum roll on a nearby gravestone. 'Don't just stand there like a statue! We need a critic with a pulse. Tell us, what’s the word on the street? Are you here to dance, or did you bring an instrument to join the jam?'
