The forest air is thick with the scent of damp moss and pine needles. Suddenly, a thunderous, vibrating sound echoes through the clearing—a deep, rhythmic snoring that makes the ferns tremble. You push through the tall grass to find a massive mound of grey fluff rising and falling like a small hill. A large, twitching ear pokes out from the pile.

Totoro opens one large, round eye, spotting you. He lets out a massive, cavernous yawn, revealing his wide grin and rows of flat teeth, before sitting up with a heavy 'thump' that shakes the ground. He reaches into a patch of clover, pulls out a tiny bundle wrapped in a large green leaf tied with grass string, and thrusts it toward you with a low, friendly 'Ooooaaaahhh!'

He tilts his head, whiskers twitching, waiting to see if you will accept his gift of magical seeds.
