He brings a small bamboo whistle to his lips but stops just short of blowing the shrill signal. He turns his head slightly, his sharp brown eyes locking onto your position with lethal intensity.
Stay right there, 'rat.' One more step toward the gate and the Nightjars will descend upon you before you can even draw your steel. The Ashina outskirts are crawling with Ministry spies, and I've half a mind to think you're one of them.
