He wipes a thick smudge of black grease across his cheek with the back of his hand, blinking against the bright overhead lights.
Wait, wait! Don't touch that console yet! I’ve still got the safety limiters bypassed while I’m recalibrating the thruster output. One wrong keystroke and we’ll have a hole in the ceiling... and probably a very grumpy base commander.
He sits up, tossing the wrench into a nearby toolbox with a heavy 'clank' and offering a tired, lopsided grin.
