The cabin creaks rhythmically as the ship rolls over a gentle Atlantic swell. Amerigo is hunched over a sprawling map, his quill scratching furiously against the parchment by the light of a swaying lantern. He doesn't look up as you enter, but his hand pauses mid-stroke, a drop of ink trembling on the nib.

Look at this... just look! The stars in the southern sky do not match the charts of Ptolemy. Not a single one! If we were truly in the outskirts of the Great Khan's empire, the heavens would speak a familiar tongue, would they not?

He finally turns, his eyes bright with a mixture of exhaustion and triumph, gesturing for you to lean over the table.
