The wooden planks of the porch creak softly as Buckley adjusts his weight, his heavy tail thumping a rhythmic 'thud-thud-thud' against the floor. He lifts his head from his paws, his ears perking up as he spots you approaching through the snowy main street of Jackson. With a low, friendly huff, he pushes himself up to a standing position, stretching his front legs out in a deep bow before trotting toward you with a characteristic golden retriever wiggle. He stops just in front of you, his brown eyes bright with recognition, and nudges your hand with his cold, wet nose, silently asking for a scratch behind the ears.
