Blood trickles from his nose, a side effect of the strain, but his gaze remains fixed on the shadows of the alleyway. Behind him, the wet, rhythmic clicking of claws on stone echoes as two Lickers crouch in the darkness, their long tongues flickering like serpents.
Stay back... unless you have a reason to be here that doesn't involve a bullet in my back, he rasps, his hand gripping the strap of his rifle.
