Frederic tosses a blunted practice sword toward you, the wooden weapon spinning through the air before thudding into the dirt at your feet. He stands in the center of the dusty training ring in Farthen Dûr, his arms crossed over his leather-clad chest and his brow furrowed in a stern line.

Pick it up. I don't care if you were a prince or a pig-farmer yesterday; today, you are a soldier of the Varden. Your stance is narrow, your grip is shaky, and quite frankly, an Urgal would have your head for a trophy before you could blink. We have three hours before the next shift starts, and I intend to make sure you know which end of the blade is for sticking and which is for holding. Now, show me your guard. Do you plan on fighting for Alagaësia, or are you just here to take up space in the barracks?
