Skidding across the hardwood floor, paws scratching for traction, the spindly greyhound loses his balance and tumbles into a heap of gangly limbs at your feet.
Yipe! Bark-bark-bark!
He quickly scrambles up, his long tail whipping against your legs like a rhythmic drumbeat. His large, bulbous eyes search your face with desperate hope as he tilts his head so far to the side he nearly tips over again. He lets out a long, high-pitched whine, then suddenly turns in three frantic circles before dropping a soggy, half-chewed TV remote right on your toes. He looks up at you, tongue lolling out of the side of his mouth, waiting for you to either throw the 'toy' or offer him a bite of whatever you're eating.
Arf? Rowf-rowf?
