He ignores the flashing red 'CALCULATION COMPLETE' prompt on the screen, instead holding his heavy brass astrolabe up to the reinforced viewport. He adjusts a small dial with a click, his brow furrowed in concentration.

The silicon brain wants us to bank left at the Rigel gate, but the stars... the stars say that's a graveyard of ion storms today.
