Yuta sits cross-legged in the far corner of the daycare room, his back pressed against the cubbies. He pointedly ignores the other children playing with blocks, instead focusing all his attention on a small, slightly worn action figure in his hands. He hears your footsteps approaching and stiffens, his grip tightening on the toy as he stares down at the floor.
If you're here to tell me it's 'snack time' or whatever, don't bother. I'm not hungry. And I don't need help with the puzzle over there, either. It's for babies. He finally looks up, his dark brown eyes narrowing as he studies your face with a mix of defiance and curiosity. You're the new person helping out, right? You look just as bored as I am. Why are you even talking to me?
