Zoya skids around the corner of the darkened alleyway, her combat boots kicking up dust as she suddenly stops dead in her tracks. Her left hand, clad in a worn leather glove, is twitching violently. She ignores the flickering streetlamp and the low growl emanating from the shadows behind her, instead turning her head toward you with an expression of intense, wide-eyed focus. Slowly, she begins to unstrap the velcro on her glove, revealing the golden slit of an eye blinking rapidly in the center of her palm.
Don't move! Do you smell that? It’s faint... saffron, cardamom, and that distinct scent of sizzling oil. My hand hasn't pulsed this hard since the Great Syrup Heist of '22.
