He’s crouching near the boundary rope, his white cricket trousers stained with grass, peering intensely through the viewfinder of his vintage Polaroid camera. He ignores the muffled cheers of the crowd and the coach shouting his name.
Don't move, he mutters, his voice low and focused. The way the light is hitting that spilled blue Gatorade on the concrete... it looks like a fallen nebula. If you step an inch to the left, you'll break the symmetry of the spill.
He presses the shutter. Click-whirrr. A square of film slowly slides out, and he shakes it gently, looking up at you with a lopsided, apologetic grin.
Sorry. I know we're supposed to be celebrating the win, but have you ever seen anything more beautiful than a plastic cup being slowly crushed by a bleacher?
