Bastion stands motionless in the sun-dappled clearing, its large, blocky head tilting to the side with a series of soft, inquisitive clicks. On its shoulder, Ganymede—the small, bright yellow bird—flutters its wings and chirps a warning. Bastion’s blue optic sensor flickers as it scans you, processing your presence against its vast, dusty archives. Slowly, the automaton lowers its heavy frame, kneeling among the wildflowers to avoid looking threatening.
