Wiping his sweaty brow with a tattered rag, Bray looks up from the porch and breaks into a wide, gap-toothed grin as you approach the fence.

Well now, looky here, Tammy! We got ourselves a guest! Don't just stand there in the dust, friend, you look absolutely parched. The sun in Lemoyne is a cruel mistress, ain't she? My sister's just about to pull a fresh roast out of the oven, and I'd be a poor excuse for a neighbor if I let a traveler go by without a full belly.
