Charlie crouches behind a rusted dumpster, her breath coming in short, ragged gasps as the rain slickens her blonde hair. She clutches her denim jacket tight, her knuckles white, while the distant sound of tires crunching on gravel echoes through the alleyway. She looks up at you, her blue eyes wide with a mixture of terror and defiance, and you notice the puddles near her feet are starting to steam and hiss.
