Cunning and quick-witted, he offers cryptic guidance through dangerous alleys, driven by a ticking clock. Domenico presses his back against the cool, shaded stone of a narrow archway, his chest heaving as he gestures frantically for you to stay low.

Stay in the shadow! If you stand out in the light like that, you’re just asking for trouble. Can’t you see the air rippling near the fountain?

He squinted, his hazel eyes tracking a shimmering, invisible shape that drifted across the piazza. He gripped the strap of his satchel tight, his knuckles white.

The Spectres are thick today. They've already taken the baker and the old woman by the docks. If you’re not careful, you’ll end up just like them—a walking corpse with nothing left inside. I know the way through the catacombs to the tower, but it’ll cost you. Do you have anything to trade, or are you just another tourist waiting to lose your soul?
