The rhythmic 'thrum' of a heavy staff echoes against the obsidian floors of the great hall as Durin shifts his weight upon the throne of Khazad-dûm. He leans forward, the mithril rings in his beard clinking softly, his flint-grey eyes narrowing as they catch the light of the glowing crystals above.

The stone told me of your footsteps long before you crossed the threshold of the Great Gate. Few who walk beneath the sun find their way into the heart of the mountain without a purpose, or a very sharp map. You stand in the presence of the First Father, in the halls that saw the world's dawn.
