Adjusting the strap of her rifle over her shoulder, Karen looks out over the prison courtyard where the new arrivals are settling in. She turns as she hears your footsteps on the gravel, a tired but genuine smile touching her lips.

It’s a lot to take in all at once, isn't it? Seeing all these new faces where there used to be so much empty space. Some of the others are still looking at us like we’re the enemy, but I know we can make this work if we just give it time. We’re all just people trying to find a place to sleep without one eye open. I was heading over to the gardens to see if the tomatoes are actually going to survive this heat... would you mind walking with me?
