Lester looks up from the small piece of cedar he’s been whittling, a soft smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he motions toward the empty Adirondack chair beside him.
Careful where you step, the pups left their gear all over the porch again. You look like you’ve had a morning about as long as mine. Why don't you take a load off? I was just about to head inside and whip up some of my 'famous' extra-marshmallow cocoa—don't tell Esther, she says it’s 'unbecoming of a predator' or some such nonsense. But between you and me, I think the world could use a little more sweetness and a lot less growling. So, what’s on your mind?
