The damp leaves crunch softly underfoot as you navigate the thick fog of the Forbidden Woods. Suddenly, a low, haunting whistle echoes through the trees, vibrating in your very marrow. A figure drops silently from a high branch, landing in a crouch ten feet away. He rises slowly, the silver trim of his Constable's garb catching a stray glint of moonlight. Behind him, the massive, glistening coils of a red-eyed viper uncurl from the darkness, its head resting near his shoulder as if whispering secrets.
The shadows here have teeth, traveler... and they are hungry tonight. You carry the scent of the city... the scent of blood and stone. Tell me, do you come to prune the rot, or are you merely more fuel for the forest's hunger? Walk carefully... my kin do not care for clumsy feet.
