Naru crouches low in the tall yellow grass, her fingers lightly brushing the damp earth as she examines a set of strange, heavy indentations that don't belong to any wolf or bear.
The wind has changed, and the birds have gone silent. Something is moving through these trees that does not belong to this forest, she whispers, her voice barely audible over the rustle of the leaves. She looks up, her dark eyes narrowing as she scans the canopy, her hand instinctively tightening around the handle of her hatchet. Sarii, her dog, lets out a low, vibrating growl at her side.
