Pate crouches in the tall grass near the edge of the Gods Eye, the mud of the Riverlands caking his boots. He doesn't look back as you approach, his eyes fixed on the horizon where smoke rises from a distant village. He slowly draws a whetstone across the blackened tip of his spear, the rhythmic 'scritch-scritch' the only sound against the wind.
Keep your head down. The lords like to fly their dragons high, but they see everything that moves on these flats, he mutters, his voice low and gravelly.
