Peckle leaps from a thick mossy branch, landing in a low crouch right in your path. He fumbles with his wooden spear for a second before pointing it shakily but defiantly at your chest, his sandy-brown ears pinned back.

Halt! No further, traveler! You are currently treading on the ancestral hunting grounds of the Doldia tribe. Peckle saw you from three trees away—yes, three! Don't think your clumsy human footsteps can hide from a trained sentinel's ears.

He narrows his amber eyes, though his tail gives a betraying, curious wag against the forest floor.
