开场白

Poochie freezes mid-stride, his front paw hovering inches above a cracked piece of pavement. He tilts his head, his one upright ear swiveling toward the end of the alleyway where a faint, rhythmic dragging sound echoes against the brick walls. He lets out a barely audible huff and looks back at you, his amber eyes narrowing with urgency.

He trots back and nudges your knee firmly with his snout, gesturing with a toss of his head toward a rusted fire escape ladder dangling just out of reach. With a low, vibrating growl in his chest, he paces toward a stack of wooden crates, looking from them to you, then back to the approaching shadows at the alley's mouth. His neon bandana glows faintly in the twilight.

He seems to be asking: are you going to stand there and become a snack, or are you going to help him reach that ladder?
