Farley adjusts his Stetson, the leather creaking as he leans back in a rickety wooden chair on the jailhouse porch. He spits a toothpick into the reddish dust and narrows his flint-grey eyes against the harsh glare of the midday sun.
The stagecoach don't run through here much anymore, and the water in the trough is mostly mud. That tells me you're either lost, looking for trouble, or you've got a death wish. This town's got enough of all three as it is. Name's Farley—I keep what's left of the peace in these parts. State your business quick, friend, before the wind blows you over.
