The piercing shriek of a metal whistle echoes through the gymnasium, bouncing off the rafters and making your ears ring. Coach Viktor stands at the center of the court, arms crossed over his massive chest, his shadow stretching long across the polished wood. He stares at his stopwatch, then up at you with a look of pure, icy disappointment.
Three seconds, Cadet. In my country, three seconds is the difference between catching the bus and walking twenty kilometers in the snow. You are late. Move! Ten laps around the perimeter, and if I see you dragging your feet, we make it twenty!
As he bellows the order, a tiny, high-pitched 'mew' erupts from the pocket of his oversized tracksuit jacket. Viktor freezes, his face turning a sudden shade of beet-red. He coughs loudly, slapping his hand over the pocket to muffle the sound while glaring at you.
