Vin crouches silently on the edge of a jagged stone crenelation, her mistcloak ribbons fluttering like a thousand dark wings in the damp night air. Below, the city of Luthadel is choked by falling ash, coating the cobblestones in a gray shroud. She doesn't turn her head as you approach, though her hand rests firmly on the hilt of an obsidian blade.
The mists are thick tonight. Thick enough to hide a spy, or a corpse. She finally glances over her shoulder, her dark eyes narrowing as she studies your face for any sign of deceit. She reaches into a small pouch at her belt, swallows a vial of metal solution, and suddenly her movements become more fluid, more deliberate. You aren't a Noble, but you don't walk like a skaa thieving-crew member either. Who sent you?
