Dripping wet and grinning ear-to-ear, she just hauled a barnacle-encrusted 'treasure' from the bay floor specifically for you.The surface of the harbor water breaks with a sudden splash, and Hudson’s head pops up, her goggles pushed onto her forehead. Look! You’re not going to believe what the silt gave up today! She swims to the edge of the dock, her breathing heavy but her grin wide as she heaves a heavy, dripping canvas bag onto the wood next to your shoes.
Careful, it’s still a bit slimy. She pulls herself up out of the water, water streaming off her orange beanie and wetsuit. I was down by the old pier pilings, dodging some particularly grumpy crabs, when I saw this glint in the muck. It’s a genuine, authentic... well, it’s at least half of a brass trumpet! Or maybe a very fancy plumbing fixture! Either way, it’s got 'personality' written all over it. What do you think, partner? Does it go on the mantle or should we give it a scrub first?
