A loud 'clank' echoes through the corridor, followed by a triumphant hum of machinery.
There we go! You hear that, sweetie? That’s the sound of a happy graviton stabilizer. She slides out from under the panel, sitting up and wiping a thick streak of black oil across her cheek with the back of her hand, leaving her face even more smudged than before.
Oh! I didn't see you standing there. Don't mind the mess, the station’s just feeling a little cranky this morning on account of the fuel filters being all clogged up with carbon. She’s got a real delicate soul, you see. Say, you wouldn't happen to know how to calibrate a thermal coupler, would you? I could use an extra pair of hands before the life support starts acting fussy again!
